New member checking in
by Old Major inbeen reading for about 2 and a half years, thought i would take the plunge and sign up.. my circumstances... i live in uk, serving as ms. i am fully awake.
i can not leave due to family, so just treating the meetings as a bit of a social club.
i would like to give out more details, but i think you all know the drill.. complete disillusionment and i suppose natural curiosity woke me up.. don't know what else to say right now, just hello, and i hope to get to know some of you guys better.

The Witnesses Are Really Trying Hard To Get Me Back In
by minimus inat my mom's bed side all i see is either jw family or friends making a concerted effort to have me return to their fold.
evidentlyy, my mom has encouraged this and i'm a trapped prisoner, as they do their best to have me come back.
it's bad enough that i have to endure my mom's dying, now i have to be bombarded with this bs..

Minimus--is your mum in her own home-?--or a care home--or your home. do you have any control over who is allowed to visit ? it might be better to restrict or limit such visits if she is very weak or distressed.
my old dad --94--is in a care home nearby. he is much weaker now than 6 months ago. he never gets any jw visitors any more---not since an elderly sister who knew him passed away many months ago. the local elders know he is there--but stopped visiting over a year ago. i simply dont know why.
maybe dad told them not to come anymore. or maybe they shun him because he has a close relationship with me. my own daughter has never visited him--but only lives half a mile away.

666 Jehovah Witnesses in Iceland
by disillusioned 2 injust came across this news article and thought you all might like to see it.
quite funny.. figures on registration in icelands religious institutions have yielded some interesting results.. visir recently compiled data that they requested from the national registry on the numbers of people registered with different religious institutions in iceland.
unsurprisingly, the largest number of registrants belonged to the national church; some 240,395 icelanders out of the total population of 331,244 belong to the church, either by voluntary registration or from being autoregistered at birth.. where other religious institutions are concerned, one of the more interesting data points is that there are exactly 666 registered members of the jehovahs witnesses in iceland..

So sick of the abuse...
by iwasblind ini am still serving as an elder but just hanging in there.
i think their quandry is that they don't see me out in the field, but when they need encouragement and decent prayer they come to me.. i just got off the phone to this poor sister who i have only met twice.
she is not even in my congregation (her sister is).

Hey Simon
by ShirleyW ini'm noticing that when i open quite a few of the posts here i notice that the end of the sentences on some lines are breaking improperly.
like for the word paragraph, it's broken up with the "aph" on the next line for an example.
it's happening a lot i'm seeing it just about in every post i open, is it just my view and my computer?.
